Evaluation of Engineering Women in Natural Science (EngWINS), an Afterschool STEM Mentoring program

Began in May 2019

EngWINS expands the Women In Natural Science (WINS) program to include exposure to engineering.

This program connects young women with mentor scientists from Drexel University and the Academy of Natural Sciences (ANS). EngWINS also includes enhanced mentor training on implicit bias and cultural competency to address the fact that historically, most mentor scientists are white (and male), while WINS students are primarily African American and Latina young women. Research for Action (RFA) serves as the external evaluator for the EngWINS project to provide formative and summative feedback as well as recommendations that can be used to improve implementation, identify best practices, and document indicators of success.
