About Maja Pehrson

Maja Pehrson is a research analyst on the qualitative research team. Currently, she is supporting projects focused on out-of-school time programming, including an evaluation of 21st Century Community Learning Center programs. Maja is also part of the team researching promising practices and supports for the School District of Philadelphia’s Innovation Network.

Maja recently earned her Masters degree in Sociology and Education from Teachers College, where she assisted on various qualitative research projects focused on culturally responsive education. Previously, Maja worked as an elementary teacher in the School District of Philadelphia as well as in the South Bronx. Throughout her work in schools, Maja continuously questioned the ways in which inequality manifests in the classroom and the potential for teachers to disrupt the status quo. Maja is particularly interested in racial dynamics in schools, the role of teachers, and trauma-informed practices.
