Research for Action (RFA) conducted an evaluation of Need in Deed (NID)’s work with teachers during the 2006-07 school year. The mixed method evaluation aimed to learn more about the impact of the NID’s work on teacher practice and to identify potential outcomes for students. The evaluation found that teachers were very positive about their experience with NID and rated the support and professional development from NID staff as both useful and of high quality. Teachers were excited and challenged by using service learning that incorporates student voice. They were impressed by student responses to service learning and gained new insights about their students.
