The New Teacher Coaches were a part of a group of initiatives launched by the School District of Philadelphia for the 2003-04 school year designed to retain teachers who were new to the system. This report focuses on New Teacher Coaches’ appraisals of their experience during the first year of the initative’s implementation. These reflections come from a number of one-hour focus groups with the New Teacher Coaches done in June 2004.
