Through this project, Research for Action will assess the early child education workforce in the Detroit area. The purpose of this report is to provide local Head Start programs with actionable research to demonstrate the unique needs of Detroit-area Head Start agencies for upcoming grant proposals. The report will draw on interview and survey data to address the following areas of investigation: Access to and quality of early care and education higher education programs in the Detroit area; 2) Access to and quality of professional development supports available to Detroit Head Start programs; 3) Recruitment and retention of current teaching staff in Detroit Head Start programs; and 4) The state and community contexts that affect the ECE workforce pipeline in Detroit.
