About Alison Murawski

Alison Murawski is RFA’s Senior Director of Operations, where she leads the organization’s internal operations with a strong focus on people, culture, and organizational effectiveness. As a member of the leadership team, she helps shape RFA’s strategic direction and ensures the systems, structures, and workplace practices that support staff and organizational performance are aligned with the organization’s mission.

Murawski provides leadership for RFA’s human resources and communications functions, leading efforts to strengthen talent management, policy and compliance, organizational culture, and internal systems that support collaboration and high-quality work. She partners closely with RFA’s Executive Director and other members of the leadership team to align people, operational, and financial strategies, ensuring the organization has the infrastructure and support needed for staff and programs to succeed. She also leads the operations of RFA’s Board of Directors and played a key role in the development and implementation of RFA’s recent strategic plan.

Murawski joined RFA in 2010 as the organization’s first Director of Communications. In that role, she developed and implemented an organization-wide communications strategy that significantly expanded RFA’s visibility and positioned the organization as a trusted source of education research for policymakers, media, and community stakeholders. Under her leadership, RFA’s work gained regular coverage in outlets such as the Philadelphia Inquirer and Harrisburg Patriot-News, and was featured in national media including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and NPR.

Prior to joining RFA, Murawski led communications and advocacy initiatives for several nonprofit organizations, including Good Schools Pennsylvania, an education advocacy group, and 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania, a land use policy organization.
