About Valerie Ratner-Smith

Valerie Ratner-Smith joined RFA in 2018 as a Research Analyst, and currently serves as a Senior Research Analyst.

Valerie works on the qualitative team and provides fieldwork, analysis, and project management support for diverse evaluation projects, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s Youth Arts Initiative, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, and Say Yes to Education Cleveland.

Prior to joining RFA, Valerie supported mixed-methods evaluation efforts for the Atlanta Healthy Start Initiative, a program that provides low-income African American moms and their infants perinatal support. Valerie’s research interests include mental health factors related to educational outcomes, as well as program fidelity in relation to program outcomes.
