Adam Schott serves as RFA’s Policy Director, overseeing all aspects of the organization’s policy research and reports. He is currently leading several state-level policy projects, including RFA’s work with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center. Adam came to RFA after serving two years as Executive Director of Pennsylvania’s State Board of Education. In this capacity, Adam worked with senior policymakers, education stakeholders, and external research partners to advance significant, state-level K-16 reforms including the first revision of the state’s academic targets in more than a decade and efforts to raise standards for alternative teacher certification programs. Between 2003 and 2009, Adam served in a number of senior positions in the Pennsylvania Department of Education, including Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff and Director of Government Relations. Adam’s writings on education policy have appeared in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Education Week, and the Harrisburg Patriot-News.
