Art Lessons from NYC: Use City's Rich Resources to Restore Arts Education
(Jun 2006)
Author: Jolley Bruce Christman
Abstract: This article discusses the revitalization of arts education in New York City's public schools after budget cuts decimated arts programs years ago. Strong intermediary organizations advocating for the arts and brokering vibrant partnerships and a responsive NYC Board of Education are largely responsible for the resoration of arts programs in the city's schools. These partnerships and ways in which the arts are being integrated into NYC schools is discussed.
