History
Research for Action (RFA) is a Philadelphia-based, non-profit organization engaged in educational research, evaluation, and strategic advice. Founded in 1992, we work with public school districts, postsecondary institutions, and educational and community organizations to improve the educational opportunities for those traditionally disadvantaged.
Research for Action built its reputation by conducting educational research that fully explores the complexities of educational reform in Philadelphia – and by working with a range of stakeholders to ensure that its findings translated into actionable recommendations. We continue to draw national attention as an organization that exemplifies the value of being a locally-focused, applied research organization.
Although our roots are in Philadelphia, Research for Action has developed a strong national reputation through its work in educational settings across the country, and by establishing strong connections and partnerships with a broad range of organizations and foundations. We perform a wide array of services, actions, and supports, and have expertise in some of the most critical areas of education reform.
