About Mycaeri Atkinson
As a Policy Fellow, Mycaeri Atkinson contributes to a wide array of research studies at RFA, including managing an evaluation of postsecondary racial equity initiatives at the state level through Lumina’s Talent, Innovation, and Equity grant.
Myci also conducts research on postsecondary education finance and access with an emphasis on promise programs, community colleges, student success funding, and emergency funding. In addition, she is evaluating the Dallas County (TX) Promise Program, a coalition of school districts, postsecondary institutions, employers and communities working together to help more Dallas County students complete college and begin careers. Atkinson also conducted a 50-state policy scan for a new digital portal that integrates data, policies, and resources about DACA and undocumented students to fuel change at the federal, state, and campus level, and build a diverse movement of partners and stakeholders advocating for undocumented students who are in the postsecondary landscape.
Prior to joining RFA, Atkinson was a research analyst and writer for the Virginia Department of Health and a third grade teacher in the Teach For America Greater New Orleans corps. Atkinson graduated with a Master’s from Brown University’s Urban Education Policy program where she assisted on community democracy research, with an emphasis on racial equity, intersectionality, and imbalances in deliberation.
